It was just another mundane day as I watched a school bus turn round the corner and enter the street. A kid was boarding it. The noise from inside the bus and the whole scene reminded me of my good old school days and a smile spread across!
And just then it occurred to me! Why do we always say good old days? Why are the old days always gold and full of happiness? Why not the present ones? I was so happy to remember my school days where as when in school we all know how eager we were to grow up and be independent! We were always so bothered to be ordered and disciplined by parents and teachers; we were so not interested to read at all. Except play time, we all just waited to grow up.
Well, grown up we all are now but did we get happier than before? My mom always says “যায় দিন ভালোই যায়”, kind of translating to “the present is the best version it could be”. It’s us who are so focused on achieving something to be happy that we end up only remembering what happiness was and always craving for happiness in future.
যায় দিন ভালোই যায় – so let’s just be happy that I got the time to remember happiness, even if for 5 mins, in a busy day. May be I should be just happy that I have reached so far. May be sometime down the lane I would look back to these days as well and think how beautiful was it to stand quietly in the balcony and breathe freely!
Let’s just be happy, shall we?
